I was so moved by this moment as she freed herself from the chains she’d allowed them to have over her for over a decade, only to realise she wasn’t weakened because of them; but her own inability to deal with the wrong doing and pushing past it which enabled the same powerless feeling over and over again. We’re all strong in our own unique way- I genuinely believe that. And writing this passage, being in her mind and feeling that emotional release was such an empowering moment for myself and it had me thinking, who or what do I let hold power over me?

I think we so often look for love in a romantic partner, but I think there is nothing more powerful than the love of a best friend and supportive friendship. She was Canadian. I was Australian. We met living abroad in Scotland. She was a chef. I was an author. We met in a little café by the docks. We were both dreamers focused on our career and artistic goals. It was the birth of the ultimate friendship.

Have you watched it yet? Oh my goodness to say I feel emotionally overwhelmed by the release of ‘Shadow and Bone’ on Netflix is an understatement. Firstly, Leigh Bardugo’s series, Six of Crows is my favourite books EVER! I absolutely love Leigh Bardugo’s writing and found it very clever in the way that they incorporated both series and characters into the ‘Shadow and Bone’ Netflix series. Secondly, it was well executed in my opinion and it came as no surprise that might’ve been because Leigh Bardugo actually had say in what happened. And did you spot her amongst the crowd, she was in one of the scenes! How cool is that!

I recently had to remind myself that experiencing new things was a wonderful way to spark imagination and creative muse. I usually experience so many different and wonderful things when I travel and for the last year, I’ve gotten into a very strict routine which hasn’t offered much time for exploration. So, I decided to go to my local mountains, Mount Tamborine, hike through the rainforest and check out a ‘Glow Worm’ cave.
