★★★ The Power of Letting Go ★★★

I was so moved by this moment as she freed herself from the chains she’d allowed them to have over her for over a decade, only to realise she wasn’t weakened because of them; but her own inability to deal with the wrong doing and pushing past it which enabled the same powerless feeling over and over again. We’re all strong in our own unique way- I genuinely believe that. And writing this passage, being in her mind and feeling that emotional release was such an empowering moment for myself and it had me thinking, who or what do I let hold power over me?

★★★ How did you and your best friend meet? ★★★

I think we so often look for love in a romantic partner, but I think there is nothing more powerful than the love of a best friend and supportive friendship. She was Canadian. I was Australian. We met living abroad in Scotland. She was a chef. I was an author. We met in a little café by the docks. We were both dreamers focused on our career and artistic goals. It was the birth of the ultimate friendship.

★★★ Hello Divine Inspiration- Where did you come from? ★★★

I’m really curious as to where you receive your ‘Aha’ moment or suddenly have divine inspiration for the muse or question that’s been badgering you in the back of your mind for days? Do they randomly strike you in the dead of the night? Does it break your ‘oh so even tone’ in the shower belting out to your favourite song? Does it spark when you’re upside down in downward dog?

★★★ Wow 7 Year Anniversary? Happy Book Birthday! ★★★

Today marks my seven-year anniversary, since publishing my first book, ‘Possession of my Soul: The Three Immortal Blades’, as a once upon a time baby author. I can’t believe the amazing adventure and personal success I’ve had in that time! Writing helped me as an angsty fifteen-year-old who had just lost her home and belongings in a house fire, dealing with generic hormones and teen drama…

★★★ Do I secretly wish I was an evil bas a$$ heroine? ★★★

And that’s a wrap. I started my new manuscript on Monday and I’m already 20,000 words in! Horaah! Now it’s no surprise that this is another eerie, lustful, action-packed read with a kick-a$$ heroine. And as I found myself twirling on my chair staring at the ceiling today, taking one of many writing breaks, I had to wonder to myself… do I secretly wish I was an evil character? Okay, hear me out. I have three reasons to lead to this question…

★★★ Have you watched it? Shadow and Bone now on NETFLIX ★★★

Have you watched it yet? Oh my goodness to say I feel emotionally overwhelmed by the release of ‘Shadow and Bone’ on Netflix is an understatement. Firstly, Leigh Bardugo’s series, Six of Crows is my favourite books EVER! I absolutely love Leigh Bardugo’s writing and found it very clever in the way that they incorporated both series and characters into the ‘Shadow and Bone’ Netflix series. Secondly, it was well executed in my opinion and it came as no surprise that might’ve been because Leigh Bardugo actually had say in what happened. And did you spot her amongst the crowd, she was in one of the scenes! How cool is that!

★★★ I TRIED SOMETHING NEW AND IT WAS KIND OF GROSS!★★★

I recently had to remind myself that experiencing new things was a wonderful way to spark imagination and creative muse. I usually experience so many different and wonderful things when I travel and for the last year, I’ve gotten into a very strict routine which hasn’t offered much time for exploration. So, I decided to go to my local mountains, Mount Tamborine, hike through the rainforest and check out a ‘Glow Worm’ cave.

★★★ REST AFTER THE STORM★★★

I think it’s time to rest after the storm. WOWZERS, Token Phantom was a hella crazy release last week. And I doubled it up with a deadline to send to the editor too. (I’m a sucker for punishment) So this week I’m focusing and reminding myself the importance of self-love, care and rest.

One year since Scotland… Oh how I miss my second home

For those of you who have followed my journey for some time now, you know that I absolutely love travelling. Obviously with Covid, I’ve remained in Australia for the last year. But before that, for the first time in a long time, I’d settled down in Edinburgh, Scotland calling the land of castles, whiskey, and Hairy Coo’s home for just under two years.

Covid has effected all of us in many ways. When the world began shutting borders and Europe so quickly started shutting off to the world and spreading across the UK in the same fashion, I went into panic mode. Like most of us, I hadn’t realized the severity of the situation until it was almost too late to return to my home country. I’m Australian…
